End Of An Era At SWBBA

It’s the end of an era at the South West Brass Band Association. The Annual General Meeting, held on the 26th March, saw the Association say a very big ‘thank you’ to three of its most stalwart Executive Committee members.

Long standing members, both Brian Elliott and Keith Gibbs, retired from their offices of Secretary (23 years) and Treasurer (27 years) respectively, and the association also said goodbye to Alan Gears from the Committee.

A spokesperson for the association told A4B: ‘All three have given incredible service to the Association and will be hugely missed. However, they don’t all get away completely; Brian is now a Life Vice-President and Keith has become a Life Associate Member, the latter also remaining on the Executive Committee.

We now welcome Simon James as Secretary, Doreen Daws as Treasurer and Keith Edwards as an Executive Committee member. We hope they all enjoy their new posts! The association looks forward to working with them to ensure the future of the Association for its growing number of members.’
