Gordon Langford to Test at National Youth Championships 2018

Entry details and an information pack are now available for the 2018 National Youth Brass Band Championships of Great Britain, to be held at Warwick Arts Centre on Sunday 22nd April 2018.

The test pieces selected for the Championship and Intermediate sections have been selected in memory of the great Gordon Langford.

Gordon Langford (11 May 1930 – 18 April 2017) was an English composer, arranger and performer. He is well known for his brass band compositions and arrangements, winning an Ivor Novello award for best light music composition for his March from the Colour Suite in 1971. He studied at the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal Artillery Band, before spending a career as one of the most sought-after session musicians and arrangers.

‘Overture Metropolis’ composed by Gordon Langford, provides the test piece for the Championship Section.

‘West Country Fantasy’ composed by Gordon Langford, will provide the test piece for the Intermediate Section.
