New Trio Arrive at Slaithwaite

Slaithwaite Band welcome a wealth of experience to complete their line up ready for the busy contesting season.

The experienced Andrew Emms comes in on Bb Bass from Diggle band to replace Jim Ross who has retired from banding at the age of 76 after spending 9 years with the band. Andy was an essential contribution in his first outing with the Band at Preston Contest, rewarding him and the bass section with the “Best Basses” award.

In the percussion section, the Band sees the addition of Matt Bayne and Ashley Clegg. Ashley Clegg is a graduate from the Royal Northern College of Music, and has most recently been in the percussion section of The Black Dyke Band. Local kit player, Matt, joins off a tour in China playing in the show “The Bodyguard”, but has found a new passion for brass band music.

A spokesman from the Band told A4B: “These players bring in a wealth of experience and quality ready for a successful 2018 under the Band’s talented Musical Director Ryan Watkins. After a 1st prize in the second section at Brass at the Guild last month, our new signings will be looking forward to filling the gaps in our strong team at the Yorkshire Areas in March.”
