Knapton Departs Kippax

Kippax Band have announced that Ian Knapton will be stepping down from his role of musical director in the near future after 18 months in charge.

Ian’s work commitments had started to mean round trips of several hours to each rehearsal. Commitments also to a young family and setting up a new home down in Stamford, Lincolnshire meant that with regret, he has decided to resign and allow someone else to take the reins.

Under Ian’s leadership, the band has performed with fresh new showmanship on the concert stage, and a stable committed full team around the stand.

Ian also led some success on the contest stage, with top 3 finishes at Pogson Bray and Durham Festival Contests along with some additional individual prizes.

Commenting on Ian’s time with Kippax, Chairman Colin Moss told A4B: ‘When Ian arrived, I gave him a clear mandate to drive our band forward. His passion, commitment, and musical ability was clear from the outset. Coupled with fresh new ideas and organisational skills, he contributed significantly to making Kippax a much improved musical and social environment. We thank him for his unquestionable commitment, and understand completely his need to focus on family and work for now. Nonetheless, we’ll to keep in touch, and I’m sure will be seeing him again in the future”.

Commenting on his resignation, Ian told A4B: “I have made the hard decision to leave a great band who have worked so hard for me over the last 18 months. I have enjoyed leading one of the oldest bands in the world, and will be working with them to find the right person to lead the band in the future.”

Expressions of interest for the position of MD with Kippax Band are encouraged, and you should contact [email protected] before 4th May 2018.
