New Craze Taking Over At Redruth Town Band

Redruth Town Band are excited to announce the appointment of Andrew Craze as their new Musical Director.

Andrew started playing some 39 years ago in Redruth Town Band under the direction of the late David Frost so has always had an affinity with the band. Andrew brings with him a wealth of experience both as a player, with a distinguished military career, and as a successful conductor with many local, regional and national titles, the latter being with Norfolk Wherry Brass.

Andrew told A4B: “I am very excited to have the chance to return to where it all started for me, the band has a very long and proud history with records dating back to the 1850’s making them one of the oldest in the country. The infrastructure and vision the band and all working in the organisation, is in line with my thought process and the way I like to work so I hope to carry on the great work that has been done getting the band back on stage performing once again”

Andrew takes over the role from our present Musical Director, Keith Anderson. Keith will step aside allowing Andrew to take the baton but will continue as a playing member within the Bass section.  The band would therefore like to thank Keith for his leadership and commitment over the last 2 years and are very pleased that he will continue in a supportive/playing role.

A spokesperson for the band told A4B: ‘The band feels his obvious ability to get the best out of the players he conducts is just what we are looking for and things fell into place with Andrew agreeing to work with us, despite having other offers around the country. The band are looking forward to the South West Brass Band Championships at Torquay in November, where Andrew will make his debut appearance with the band.’
