Bradwell Silver to Host Boobs & Brass With Yamaha Masterclass

In September this year, Milton Keynes will be host to Internationally renowned all-female band, Boobs & Brass in a joint concert with Bradwell Silver Band. Bringing together female players from across the country, the band will showcase big-band numbers, raising money for Cancer Research in the process.

The band has selected The Venue in Walton High as the venue and there will be performances by both Boobs & Brass and Bradwell Band followed by massed-bands numbers.

Nathan Letts, The Venue Theater Manager, told A4B: “We are proud to be able to welcome Boobs & Brass, having heard about their concerts elsewhere. Bradwell Band has a really high quality sound and this will truly be a great concert. The venue is building a strong reputation for its live and classical music programme”.

Boobs and Brass formed over 10 years ago and at the last tally have raised £201,154 in total with £171,313 being donated directly to the charity Breast Cancer Now. The first all ladies band formed in 2006 when friends Jane Nichols and Margaret Betts discussed the idea over a cup of tea. Boobs and Brass have grown in success and size and can now boast three separate bands covering different regions in the UK.

The Boobs & Brass organisers told A4B: “We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Bradwell Silver Band for organising this evening and supporting our fund raising for Breast Cancer Now. We are very proud to present Boobs and Brass to you and hope that you all enjoy our music making.”

The event is to be supported by key sponsors Souls Coaches. Their General Manager, Andrew Kerwick-Chrisp told A4B: “We have been working with Bradwell Silver Band for many years and we are pleased to be able to support such a wonderful and worthy cause. We are looking forward to a delightful evening’s entertainment. Another key supporter is local business owner Brian Currie at the Brian Currie Volkswagen Van Centre.

Commitment to Fundraising

Bradwell Silver Band take a key role in supporting important causes, the last fundraiser concert provided a donation of £2000 to Help for Heroes. We hope to exceed that amount for Breast Cancer Now. Brian Keech, Musical Director of Bradwell Silver Band told A4B: “This is a truly exciting project for Bradwell Silver Band – I’ve
been aware of Boobs and Brass for some time of course but the opportunity to play alongside them for a great cause such as Breast Cancer Now will be momentus for us!”

Free Youth Masterclass supported by Yamaha

Bradwell Silver band pride ourselves in supporting the growth of brass banding and take this opportunity to invite all brass and percussion players under the age of 18 to attend a masterclass supported by Yamaha. Guest tutors will include championship musicians Lucy Cutt, Ben Godfrey and Jack Wilson.

Yamaha’s vision is to inspire new musical talent whilst supporting those who already play. This evenings concert will be a showcase of musical talent and a chance for Yamaha to support Boobs and Brass in the amazing charity work they do whilst entertaining us all with their musical delights.
