New Endeavours for Great Yarmouth Future

The Great Yarmouth Brass Band has been successful in recent bids for funding and have been awarded a total of £2,500 from the New Endeavour Rangers Fund and the Brighter Future Fund.

The awarded funds will enable the Band to run an outreach programme, working in partnership with local schools in order to offer instrumental tuition to a small number of targeted children who would, otherwise, be precluded from learning an instrument.

The funds will also provide teaching materials and music stands for the participants.
This Sunday, October 15th, there is a ‘Future Brass 2017’ concert at Christchurch in King Street, Great Yarmouth. The Concert, which starts at 2pm, will include items by GY Future Brass, Great Yarmouth Brass and massed bands items. The Ron Larkins Memorial Shield will be presented to the winner of the annual Future Brass Solo Competition which is being held this Friday, and the winner will be invited to perform their solo at the concert.

A spokesperson for the band told A4B: ‘We are sure that Ron, ‘Mr Brass Band’, would be very pleased with the efforts to encourage young brass and percussion players and even more pleased that we now have players from GY Future Brass attending rehearsals and engagements with the Senior Band.’

Admission to the concert is free and there will be a retiring collection for Future Brass funds. Refreshments will be available during the interval, and there will also be a raffle and cake stall.
