Richard Windle Takes Woodhouse Prize Baton

Woodhouse Prize Band are delighted to announce the successful appointment of Richard Windle as their new Musical Director.

The band would firstly like to give a heartfelt thank you to Adam Whittle for conducting the band on an interim basis through this challenging time, we have all appreciated everything you have done. We would also like to thank Gavin Somerset, Jonathan Davis, Cathryn Rodgers, Colum O’Shea and John Thompson for conducting the band at rehearsals and concerts since November. The band are extremely lucky to be able to call on such friends to help us pull together, drawing strength from each other and we are, as a group, appreciative of all the help and support from everyone.

Band Secretary, Gemma Newbery, told A4B: “We are extremely pleased to welcome Richard into the band and look forward to working together to build on the standard set by our treasured Dave Morris. It was essential to find a new MD that would bring enthusiasm and drive to ensure our audiences are thoroughly entertained, something Dave worked so hard on. I know personally, Dave is always sat on my shoulder when I make crucial decisions, I am sure he would consider us in safe hands!”

New MD, Richard told A4B: “It’s a huge privilege to have been asked to take Woodhouse. It’s a family band with a proud history, loads of potential and I’m looking forward to getting started with them. It would be impossible for me to replace Dave, who meant so much to everyone associated with the band. All I can do is my best, to respect his legacy and continue the work he started”.

Richard’s first engagement will be at Norton Farmer’s Market on 28th April.
