Peter Kench Appointed at Wakefield Metropolitan

The Wakefield Metropolitan Brass Band are pleased to announce that after a long and intensive search Peter Kench has been appointed the mew musical director.

Peter began playing the Trumpet at the age of 14 and developed an instant affinity to brass playing. He graduated from The University of Hull with joint honours in Music and English and completed postgraduate studies in education at The University of Leeds, leading him into his career as a teacher.

Peter discovered the joys of conducting during his time at university becoming MD of the Wind Band and Orchestra during his studies. As a player he was a founder member of the University brass band which went on to compete at UniBrass and Ripon within months of its inception. More recently Peter was a player with the Yorkshire Imperial David Urquart Band before taking up the MD role with Wakefield Metropolitan.

A spokesperson for the band told A4B: ‘Peter is thoroughly delighted to accept the role of MD at The Wakefield Metropolitan Brass Band and looks forward to a successful and exciting partnership.’
