Pilling Delight in Preston

Pilling Jubilee Silver Band are delighted following their win at Brass at the Guild. As well as the main prize, Principal cornet Andy Hall won the best soloist award, and Solo horn Kate Marney won the best horn prize. MD Steve Hartley picked up the trophy for winning conductor.

Steve Hartley told A4B: We are all made up with our first prize and individual awards at Brass at the Guild. I have been MD at Pilling for just 12 months and its good to see the hard work and commitment in rehearsal come to fruition on the contest stage. The band are growing in maturity all the time and delivered a confident musical performance. I could not have asked for any more from them. We are now preparing the piece for the North West Area contest at Blackpool as well as working on a programme of music for a series of spring concerts. The standard of  bands at Blackpool is always very high and this year is no exception. We are looking forward to competing in what no doubt will be a very tough contest.’
