North Skelton Marking Anniversary Year With Wins

North Skelton Band are celebrating the 50th annicersary of their reformation in style this year following their win at the Buxton Brass Band Festival Contest, second section recently. The band played The Son of Light by Bertrand Moren.

This is the third win for the band this year, as they triumphed playing The Saga of Haakon the Good by Phillip Sparke at the Durham Brass Band Festival in February, followed by the Regional Championships Test Piece, The Rise of the Phoenix by the late, Darrol Barry, ensuring their qualification place for the National Brass Band Finals in Cheltenham.

A spokesperson for the band told A4B: ‘The band is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its reformation this year and has a concert and slow melody contest planned to mark the occasion’
