Pennine Music Team Up With Yorkshire Champions Strata Brass

Pennine Music, one of the UK’s leading Brass Band music publishers are proud to announce a new recording partnership with the current Yorkshire First Section Champions, Strata Brass.

On the back of Pennine Music’s new web-site launch earlier this month celebrating their 15th anniversary, new recording samples for their catalogue are now going to be added. These recordings are to be provided by Strata Brass under the leadership of their MD, Jonathan Bates.

Owner of Pennine Music, Gavin Somerset told A4B: ‘We currently have computer made, digital audio samples of our entire catalogue available on the web-site, and this is a great aid to customers and MDs when browsing for new music. However, there is nothing better than being able to hear a good recording of the work by a live band, especially if it’s an original work or something new that you may be unfamiliar with. Jonny and I had a chat a while back about making this work for us both and I’m thrilled that he and Strata Brass are to become Pennine’s official band for our new recording samples.’

Following the recording sessions, Strata Band MD, Jonathan Bates told A4B: It’s been a great experience for the band to work on a quick time-scale to produce a series of recordings of new music. I strongly feel that bands should be trying to find and promote new compositions and arrangements across all levels of banding, and Pennine are a company that really embrace that notion, with a host of exciting writers on their books already.

With the first recording session already taken place, the new recording samples will be uploaded and available to listen to very soon.

Strata Brass Band Manager, Robert Hardy told A4B: ‘We are pleased to be able to work along side Gavin and Pennine music. It has given us the opportunity to use new music, arranged by new arrangers. We look forward to a long partnership between Strata and Pennine music, which has already got off to a great start.’
