Mike Fowles to Lead Enderby Youth Training Weekend

Enderby Youth and Junior Bands are pleased to announce the return of their Youth Brass Band Training weekend at Lutterworth College over the weekend of Saturday 20th September and Sunday 21st September 2019. Each day will begin at 9.15am and finish around 5.00pm.

Fodens and Desford MD, Mike Fowles will be directing the weekend course. The weekend will be a mixture of full band rehearsals and sectionals, with regular breaks to enable the players to socialise. The course will conclude with a play through of the music learned by both bands on the Sunday afternoon to which parents and friends are warmly invited.

A varied repertoire of music will be rehearsed for both bands, ranging from a test piece through to light concert music. Participants in the course will be divided into two bands:

A junior band for players from beginner standard up to Grade 2 standard.

A main band for players of Grade 3 standard and above.

An experienced support team to act as section tutors will be joining Mike, along with members of the Enderby Senior Band who will sit in amongst the rehearsals of both the Youth and Junior Bands to support the players as they tackle some challenging new music.

The following tutors have so far been confirmed:
James Screaton (Cornets): GUS Band assistant Principal Cornet
Matt Rowe (Euphoniums and Baritones):  MD of Markham and District Band
Ryan Richards (Trombones): Tredegar Town Band Principal Trombone; MD of Enderby Band
Simon Gresswell (Basses): Yamaha Neo Bass artist
Alli Smith (Percussion): Wessex Band Course Percussion tutor

An announcement about an additional cornet tutor and a Flugel and Horn tutor will be made shortly.

Members of the Enderby Band Organisation will be on hand to provide pastoral support to the youngsters throughout the two days.

The cost of the whole weekend is only £30. Applications for a place on the weekend can be made via the Enderby Band website: www.enderbybands.co.uk
