Change of Secretary for Leicestershire Brass Band Association

Steve Plant – Chairman reports:

After 15 very successful years, Lesley Bentley has stepped down as Secretary of the LBBA due to ever increasing family and other commitments.  For some time now the Executive have been aware of Lesley’s intentions but she had agreed to carry on in the role whilst a suitable replacement was sought. I am pleased to say that this does not end Lesley’s involvement with the Association. Furthermore,Lesley will be continuing her exceptional role as Secretary of the Hathern Band as well as the Midlands Regional

We are delighted to announce that Adam Whittle has agreed to take over with immediate effect.  Adam has strong roots in the Midlands banding scene.  An accomplished player and Conductor, he has been Musical Director of the Rockingham Band for the past five years.

LBBA are keen to utilise Adam’s administrative skills, mentored by Brian Eggleshaw from a young age. Many of you will know him as a Contest Controller for the Butlins Mineworkers Championships as well as Contest Administrator of the Yorkshire and Humberside Brass Band Association.

We all wish Adam every success with his new role.

As organisers of the popular November LBBA band contest our plans are very much to go ahead this year.  Like most other events the 2020 contest had to be cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.  Watch this space for a future announcement but band secretaries are asked to “save the date” 21st November 2021 when we hope to welcome bandsmen back to Loughborough.
